Little Rays of Sunshine

Updated: Jun 29, 2022

Points of Light, it's story time...

Splitinfinitive Wowcow had a most wonderful day. The temperature had been around 72°, the sky was beautiful azure punctuated by white clouds while the big, beautiful sun accentuated the whole thing. In the air, a slight honeysuckle scented breeze brushed softly against his skin and calmly moved the leaves in the nearby trees. A couple of birds flew into those trees and sang their lovely melodious song. Wait, what? Who's Splitinfinitive Wowcow? He's a pretty darn good guy; intelligent, average good looks, gregarious, always curious, and always learning. He went by a few names: SW, Danglingparticiple Wowcow, Splitinfinitive the Adorable Wowcow, and The Most Beautifulest Wowcow (because he was the most beautiful Wowcow). The day stood out to him for many reasons, but mostly because the winds of change had finally arrived, and that never-ending itch had ceased. Yeah, The Most Beautifulest Wowcow was having that day that comes once in one's lifetime. He was having the best day of his life!

It hadn’t been that long ago that SW couldn’t care less about what fragrance surfed atop any breeze. He didn’t even want to breathe in the air the breeze moved through. He wanted to not breathe that air forever. After all, he wasn’t The Most Beautifulest Wowcow. He was nothing at all, and nothing at alls don’t bother with breathing. While SW’s life back then appeared to be static, he knew it to be fluid. He reached out to a couple of sunbeams, and they did what sunbeams do; they selflessly shared with him a little light. In that light, he could move toward a path that would save his life.

On that path, SW arrived at a hostel that, in time past, had served as a place where Patriots could bed while they magnanimously served their country. He stayed just long enough to make sure he wanted to breathe again (and forever) whilst pursuing what it was that made him not want to breathe in the first place.

Not long after returning home, Splitinfinative Wowcow drove through beautiful little Babblingbrook Town where he wandered into a little store, Robust Vigor. At first, he just wanted a refreshment that would invigorate his mind as well as his body. Gradually, after Babblingbrook Town had moved through a tiny bit of time and space, SW began to notice and greatly appreciate little rays of sunshine at Robust Vigor.

Little rays of sunshine, sure, but mighty instruments of God, absolutely! Every time Danglingparticiple Wowcow walked through the door and into Robust Vigor, one or another ray of sunshine greeted him by name and a smile. He began to think, besides wanting to learn what made him not want to breathe in the first place, maybe there was a reason, a good and fine one, for him to breathe. He found he looked forward to the chance to be greeted by those rays of sunshine each and every day! Most days he’d felt those moments not only started his day but kept him breathing and moving throughout the day as well. One of those rays of sunshine got SW reacquainted with The Lion of The Tribe of Judah, the Book He had written, and the place His believers met to encourage and build one another up.

Danglingparticiple Wowcow has come to believe that he was a real person and how breathing could be a good thing. But before he could completely appreciate those truths, he needed to learn a very hard lesson in what it was that had made him not want to breathe in the first place. He had to learn how he’d spent a lifetime denying he had feelings by building impenetrable walls around them. That was when he had to learn how never having taken the time to learn how to deal with his feelings meant he only knew how to act in an irrational way when those feelings did emerge. He had to learn how acting irrationally could give someone, even a ray of sunshine, more discomfort than they could bear. That lesson was hard and came with a lot of pain attached to it. For the first time in his life, Splitinfinative Wowcow realized he needed to feel something real, and it had to be feeling this deep emotional pain. When the pain became too hard to tolerate alone, SW reached out for help. Also a ray of sunshine, the one he confided in showed him how the most important thing he could do was feel the pain, feel what it felt like, experience the emotion, and afterward he’d feel differently, maybe even he’d feel better. That was when Splitinfinative Wowcow realized he could deny he had feelings, but they were still there. He could build all the walls he wanted to build to contain any and all feelings, but they’d still get out and wouldn't behave the way they originally intended to behave.

Splitinfinitive The Adorable Wowcow was having a most beautiful day because he’d learned he needed to think a different way. He’d learned that he had to consider that he experienced emotions and had to feel them. So as the sunshine from the sun itself made him feel the day was going to be exquisite, and the breeze with the hint of honeysuckle quickened his senses, The Most Beautifulest Wowcow smiled on that day that comes once in one's lifetime. Splitinfinitive The Adorable Wowcow was having the best day of his life and he was smiling because he felt happy, for the first time in his life he really felt happy!

Love and Peace,
